Creating Serendipity:
Summer 2013: Serendipity's founder, and local artist Bruce Davidson purchases the former Cafe La Mattina Creperie from late owner Samir Allaf-Wagner.

In July of 2014, as Serendipity rounded it's 7th month of operation, Bruce made the difficult decision that as much as he enjoyed creating Serendipity he needed to move on and focus on his other talents and businesses.

Serendipity Cafe was founded in summer of 2013 by founder and local artist Bruce Davidson along with Nicole Kosersky and an agreement with baker/managers Laura & Johnny Hobson of Hobson's Homemade Bakers Serendipity opened it's doors on November 1st of 2013 as a combination of the previous Cafe LaMattina and a new menu created largely by the Hobsons with updated favorites from Samir's menu and new ideas brought to the table by Nicole & Bruce. Serendipity was off an running and as it rounded its 7th month in operation Bruce made the decision to sell the cafe to better focus on his other businesses and art. Though it was not the original plan, this ultimately resulting in Hobson's Homemade purchasing the cafe.
When Laura & Johnny took over in July they made a few tough business decisions with an eye on the future financial health of the cafe, notably choosing to highlight the crepes as a Sunday brunch exclusive and expand areas of the menu more in their wheelhouse. Coming up on our year anniversary of ownership the results from the change to the crepes are dynamic with substantial electricity savings and a huge increase in the satisfaction of crepe quality by being able to have a dedicated crepe chef.
